Secure Your Sliding Glass Doors

Transform your beautiful but vulnerable patio doors into a powerful security barrier.

Don't Let Your Biggest Window Be Your Biggest Weakness

Sliding glass doors offer a wonderful, expansive view and easy access to your patio or backyard. Unfortunately, that large pane of glass is also a prime target for burglars and a significant safety hazard in the event of accidental breakage. Applying heavy-duty security film is the most effective way to reinforce your sliding glass doors, protecting against both forced entry and accidental impact.

The Dual Threat of Sliding Doors

Sliding doors present two main risks:

  1. Forced Entry: The large glass panel can be quickly and quietly shattered by an intruder, allowing them to walk right into your home.
  2. Accidental Impact: Due to their size and location in high-traffic areas, these doors are prone to accidental breakage from people (especially children) running into them or from stray objects.

Security film addresses both threats head-on. The thick, durable film holds the glass together, even after a significant impact. This will deter intruders by making entry incredibly difficult and will prevent injury by containing the dangerous broken shards in the event of an accident.

Why Film is the Superior Solution

While options like "charley bars" can prevent a door from being pried open, they do nothing to address the threat of the glass itself being broken. Security film is the only solution that reinforces the weakest part of the door—the glass.

  • Maintains Functionality: Film doesn't interfere with the door's ability to slide open and closed.
  • Preserves Your View: Optically clear film provides robust protection without obstructing your view or changing the look of the door.
  • Adds UV and Heat Rejection: You can choose a combination film to not only secure your door but also block heat, glare, and 99% of fading UV rays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it better to film the inside or the outside of the sliding door?

Nearly all standard security and solar films are designed for interior application. This protects the film from the elements and ensures a long-lasting bond with the glass. The protection is just as effective when applied from the inside.

My sliding door is double-pane. Is it still vulnerable?

Yes. While a double-pane unit offers better insulation, it provides very little additional security. Both panes of glass are typically standard annealed glass and can be easily broken. Security film is still a necessary upgrade.

Can you film a door that has grids or muntins?

Yes, but the process is more detailed. For doors with true divided lights (multiple small panes), we cut a piece of film for each individual pane. For doors with decorative grids between the glass, we apply a single sheet of film to the entire surface.
